The Mohawk Tribe was also called Kanien Kahake which means "People of the Flint." They are from North America.They were originally from the Mohawk Valley in upstate New York.Their traditional homeland expanded from the south of the Mohawk River the east side of the Green Mountains the west side of Oneida Nation and north to the St.Lawrence River.The Mohawks was known as the "Keepers of the Eastern Door"they guarded the Iroquois Confederation from invasion in that direction.They also lived in longhouses which is the symbol of Iroquois society.

The Mohawk Tribe also lived by farming,trading,making stuff by hand,hunting,fishing,trapping,and harvesting.Trading with the Europeans in the 17th century changed the way of life for the Mohawks.They started creating Catholicism even though they were living under the influence of many Jesuits from Europe.They also took part in the English-French wars.In the 16th century the Mohawks settled near English villages.

There was a war called the revolutionary war the Mohawk also fought in this war against the United States.They fought because of the unsettled with settlers encroaching in to the Mohawk Valley and the treaty obligations to the British Crown.Sadly the Americans won the war so most of the Mohawks went to Fort Niagara while the other Mohawks went to Fort Hunter.During the war Johannes Tekarihoga was the leader of the Mohawks.But he sadly died in 1780.After the victory of the Americans Joseph Brant led a group of Iroquois out of New York to a new place at Six Nations of the Grand River,Ontario.Another Chief named John Deseronto led a group of Mohawks to another homeland on the Bay of Quinte.Another group settled in the vicinity of Montreal,Quebec.On November 11,1794 signed the Treaty of Canandaigua with the United States.Also the Dutch introduced the Mohawks into firearms which increased the victories of war for the Mohawks.

The Mohawks sacrificed to the god Aireskoi(the God of War)they sacrificed humans so the god can let them have the victory over their enemies.They cut up the persons body and send them around to villages to be eaten.When they didn't want to send a human they would sacrifice a bear.

The Iroquois has six tribes which are,The Mohawks,The Oneida,The Seneca,The Tuscaroras,The Onodaga,and The Cayuga.Although they have different names they still are almost the same.
